If you are running that car on the street I would not use a 4400 stall converter. When you start getting above 3500 on stall converters things get a little tricky. A stall converter is being stressed whenever it is not stalling or locking up. Ie, just easing from a stop light or any other stop. With 4400 rpm you would be getting into a zone that is slightly high for street / everyday driving. I have another car with 3000 stall converter actually a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 550hp at the flywheel and 3000 is just right. Not sure about the codes.

With tuning do you think i could mask the stall speed by making the converter lock up during light throttle, and act normal under full throttle? Can Ed Right do this?

I think changing gears is a much bigger driver for programming work than the converter alone. You can definitely tweak shift points and lock up to hide it a bit but you generally shouldn't be throwing codes with just the converter swap. The slip tests really only come into play under conditions when the stock converter would be locked.

I wouldn't go that big unless you really want a drag car and have the power band and tire/suspension for it. Would be fun though...

I was wondering if there was a way you could make the converter lock up at a low speed like 1 or 2 mph and unlock during shifts and lock back after shifts when under light throttle, but act normal during full throttle. Is this possible? Thanks for your help.

I remember some posts from last year where the 2001 cars were supposed to be much more sensitive to getting slip codes from a higher stall converter, than previous years. I think the concensus was that anything above about 2,500 stall you might get a code. Anyone know for sure?

You can adjust TCC locking via programming quite easily or if you're up for something more ghetto you could wire in a switch to trigger lock up manually. The stock programming does not hold TCC lock through shifts.

I'd suggest talking w/ Mike at Yank about your particular application.

My 3500 rpm Vigilante was installed 2 weeks ago and I have no codes.

Only problem is massive loss of traction with run-flats!
