The Kirban, Hurst, and Ripper are all noticable improvements over stock, however most people seem to like the Hurst and Kirban more than the Ripper. I personally am going to go with a Hurst.
If you do a search, you will find numerous topics, where you'll find all the information you need. :seeya
I had the ripper and I didn't like it. I now have the Breathless shifter and love it. Ripper was to hard and notchy when shifting. The Breathless shifter is very smooth with quick, precise, and most importantly short shifts with less effort.
Kirban is generally considered slightly stiffer than stock, with a somewhat shorter throw.
The B&M Ripper is very short throw, and has very stiff, rifle-bolt like shifts.
The Hurst has adjustable side-to-side springs, so can be made looser (like stock) or very tight (like the B&M) from L-R
It also has a short throw, but is smoother than the B&M.
I think the majority of those who have tried the Hurst consider it to be the superior choice, though those that like really stiff throws may still prefer the B&M.
thanks for all the help guys, i think im gonna go with a hurst
who sells the hurst?
A few of the forum vendors sell it, but I advise you actually CALL in to make sure they have them--if so, order it then...
If they don't, call the next vendor who carries it.
I wouldn't place the order online without checking availability first, or you may get put on a backorder list.

I have the Kirban and really like it. This past weekend I finally got to compare it to the Ripper. A guy had one in his Z06 at the track. They have two totally different feels to them. The Ripper is shorter and much more firm. It almost springs itself into the next gear. If I were to do it again, I'd still go with the Kirban. :yesnod:
Re: Question on Short Throw Shifters (QuickSilver97)
I did the mod to shorten the stock shifter, and it's great!
The stock shifter is very long, and has a rubber coupling from the handle to the actual shift ****. After the mod, you get short shifts with a very positive feel.
