So the car is 1999 Corvette FRC. Since I have owned it both windows have worked flawlessly...up until about a week ago.
After about a 15 min drive with the windows down, the drivers side window would not roll up. There was no snap/unusual noises when I rolled it down, but when I got back and pushed the button to roll it up all I heard was a little clicking sound (relay possibly). The passenger window was unaffected.
I tried pressing the button every few days with the same response, just a little clicking sound. Then today I tried it and the window worked. Tried rolling it up and down about 5-6 times and it worked perfectly, just like before it stopped working.
So does this sound like the motor/regulator or some electrical problem? Your help is appreciated. I don't want to get stuck with the window down again. Thanks in advanced.
usually the window not going up or down is an indication of the motor failing. Next time it fails remove the door panel and check for power at the motor connector when you press the button down or up depending on which is failing. If you have power, replace the motor. Can get aftermarket remans at auto zone.
Its possible one of the commutator windings has failed and when the window motor just happens to stop on the one, it will not work. But as suggested, put a meter on the motor connector and verify that power is getting to the motor and it just not working. If power isn't getting to the connector then back up to the door control module and suspect a bad relay.

That may have been what caused it to start working again for now, possibly from closing the door a few times.

That may be a possibility. I thought that the clicking sound may be the relay, but doesnt that mean that it is working?
First off, had a 2000 NHRA Formula, traded in it when we bought the vette My window got stuck down so I pulled the door panel and used a hot wire to by pass the module, grey box with about 4 plugs, and was able to get the window up and down by the jum.THis tells me the module or what ever its called is bad, I ordered a used one of Ebay for $90 , simple fix and its fine, THe leads to the motor are hot and ground, switing will make it go up or down.
Grab the accordian in between the door and the body of the car and give it a good shake. If your window works you have some corrosion on the connector. Pull the door panel and give it a good cleaning. Start with the simple solutions first! Could be the motor as well but give this a try. Good Luck
I bet if you check your codes, you will see ones for LDCM and RDCM. Those are the door control modules. Usually are caused by loss of comm to them. Wiring in the accordian tubes and at the seat connections can be some causes.
Since the window started working again, it hasn't had any problems. You guys make a good point. It could be corrosion or something similar. This car had some leaking issues on the driver's side when I first bought it that I fixed, but some water may have gotten in from before I bought it.
