I just installed my new Donaldson Blackwing on my Y2K coupe and WOW what a difference it makes!!! I'm hoping someone can help me with my question. When i did the install, I couldn't get the air bridge to seat properly on its grommets. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? The air bridge sits up too high.
Someone on this board said that to get the air bridge to seat properly on its grommets, it help to apply some sort of grease inside the rubber grommets, this will help the air bridge to slide in easily.
You can use vasalene,wd-40,silicone spray, dielectric grease on the grommets and push down on the air bridge and the grommets will seat.I just recently pulled the Black-Wing off my 2000 and this worked.
HEB PS- the Black-Wing is on sale on the mall, check it out.
I just got my slightly used blackwing from InPursuit1654, I sent him an email. When I went to install it today, I think that i am missing one thing....a coupler of some sort from the blackwing to the maf. Do you use the existing one or do you need to purchase one. If so whos got one that can get it to me by thursday.
The air bridge grommets fit on plastic studs mounted on the top radiator shroud. This is plastic and moves. I found that if you support the shroud with your fingers and sort of move it up towards the air bridge the whole process is easier. At least it worked for me.
