In September i purchased a Corsa Indy/Pace system and a Corsa X pipe for my 2000 A4 Coupe. The problem is I can not get the driver's side flange between the X pipe and the over the axle pipe to seal. I have tried retorqueing and even new gaskets. Still Leaks. I love the system but the leak is driving me crazy. Any ideas on how to fix it?
I looked at the flanges when I replaced the gaskets. They looked ok. Flat/smooth. No obvious defects.
I have already contacted Corsa and am waiting for a reply.
....but, is flange surface perpendicular to the center of the pipe. Reason I ask....the flanges were notorious for cracking on h-pipes for a few years. If this was the case, and the repair was not correct, it may be a contributor.
I did a loose fitting with rear of the over the axle pipe inserted into the muffler the top of the flange on the over the axle pipe touches the flange on the x pipe. The bottom of the flanges are about ½ to ¾ inches from touching. I inserted the bolts and torqued them to the 40 ft-lb as in the instructions. With this done the bottom of the flanges do not pull tight and compress the gasket. I can easily insert a small tip screw driver between the gasket and the flange.
I went back and removed the over the axle pipe from the muffler then removed the flange gasket, reinserted the flange bolts and torqued them to the 40 ft-lb setting. With this done the rear end of the over the axle pipe was about 7 or 8 inches from the muffler inlet. I tried to insert it but was not able to get it to move this much.
Considering this is a new system (X pipe, over the axle, & muffler) I guess I need to see what Corsa says.
