Default HPP3, proof it works

Can anyone sell me on the hpp3 or any other reprogrammer before i go out and spend the money? Do they work? Has anyone done a before and after dyno? any improvements at the track with power tuning? please help if you can.

With F-bodies I have NEVER seen anyone gain more than 2HP/TQ with it. I personally only gained 1hp and 2tq with the power programing. My guess is unless your air/fuel ratio is way out of whack you wont gain anything to speak off. Now for adjusting speed limiters, shift points etc it is a good peice of equiptment.

The actual power tuning has proven to be worthless on both the track and the dyno by many including me!

If you have an A4 you might gain a .1 from shift points and firmness.

The cooling fan adjustment and rev limiter adjustment were the only reason I owned the HPP3.

I have used them on a '98 SS, '99T/A, '99C-5 auto and '99C-5 M6.

I have an hpp3 sitting in my garage. Let me know if you want to cut a deal.

It's for a 98. :smash:

With an automatic car, you should be able to get 4 tenths improvement with it, due to shift points, and cooler fan temps. I got 4 tenths from mine. Went from running 13.6 to 13.2 (2.73 gears) no other mods. Then got a couple more mods, now has run what is in sig. You just have to know where to set the shift points. I have mine with the 2.73 gears set at +4, and +8 on the shift points, and it shifts into 3rd right as im crossing the finish line at almost 110mph.

Power tuning didnt make any difference tho. runs the same times with or without it

Those are impressive times for 2.73's  (or 3.15's for that matter. :D )

Dwayne,
As you can tell the "everybody has one" applies to this subject. Bought mine off the CF for $200.00.

Just dyno'd last month.

Stock airbox, no programming and corsa's = 287rwhp
K&N twin airfilters ($100), programmed with HPPIII and corsa's = 297rwhp

Based on that I paid $300 for 10rwhp, but then again HP = $$ hands down.

later,

I have it. It does wake the car up, at least for me. I have used the crap out of it making changes and troubleshooting. Be warned though, if you plan on putting in 3.42 gears then stay away from it. It will only handle 2.73 and 3.15. If you call Hypertech they will tell you a work around using tire size option. But when I pressed them they told me that they would not stand behind the product with a 3.42 rear. Food for thought!

I have gone with custom tuning from the Vette Doctors and no longer need it.
