Default Help with estimating repair work...

Can you guys tell me the cost of having the following things done at a dealership please...thanks

1. SWPS replaced(steering wheel position switch)
2. 2 front oxygen sensors replaced
3. some kind of check valves(one behind the intake manifold...manifold needs to be removed?...(one check valve sticking sometimes/not very often though and one starting to stick?)WTF?
mechanic said its causing "service engine soon" light to come on...he said it was in the history and only happened a couple of times
He also said the SWPS is probably causing the "active handling" code to be thrown once in a while(I already knew this from the forum)

Thanks for your input...

Dealerships charge different labor rates, depending on location, so there is not way to provide an accurate estimate. It also depends on how much they harpoon you on the parts. You will have to make some phone calls, and shop around.

Can anyone else chime in with a real answer...my Chevy dealer charges $120 per hour...just looking for people who have had similar work done on their C5s or can give me some kind of ballpark figure...

Seriously, this is a very simple exercise. Give Gene Culley at GMParthouse.com a call (or look up the prices for the parts online). Then you call the service manager at the dealership, tell him what parts need to be changed, and ask how many hours to do it total...and bingo....you have an estimate.

I'll review:

(Price of parts) + (Time to change parts * $120) = approximate total

This might be the AIR check valve. If so, it's worth it to try the low buck, at home fix....On the LH side of the engine compartment, there's a rubber hose, approximately 3/4" in diameter. Adjacent to the alternator, there is a point where this hose has a plastic connector. Gently seperate the hose from the connector, spray about 1/3 of a can of mass airflow sensor cleaner into the hose, pointing the flow toward the rear of the car. Then take the car for a spitited ride. Cost....about $5.

thanks for the unwanted sarcasm and waste of a post...you are a real ***.et to the forumI just found out that I can get the 2 valves from a local wholesaler for $23 each. they are ac/delco parts...actually identical to the gm parts(even has the delco number and the gm number on the package)...

I also just found out that the other 2 issues( oxygen sensors and swps) are covered under my warranty so all is good...I originally just wanted to get some idea as to what it would cost from members who had the same work done...thanks to the members who posted and tried to help me

Moderator please close this post due to more potential idiots...
