So my EBCM on my 2000 is toast. What to do? Hurry up and wait and hope some aftermarket company sees a profit potential and decides to make new ones.
In the mean time I went here...... http://www.nhtsa.gov/ and submitted this issue as a safety issue. Perhaps if enough of us with this problem or even if you don't have this problem yet but have a pre 2001 C5 something might come about.
Nanies can be handy and all, but to think that the NEED to have ABS on a car to be safe is what is wrong with todays society. Save me from myself kind of thing.
Have you seen the new Benz that all but drives for you. Way too much intrusion for my taste thanks.
Are you certain that the valve assy is toast? Many times they can be cycled over and over to free things up...
GM will NEVER-EVER do ANYTHING about this without a herd of LAWSUITS and even then it would be doubtful. With the age of the cars and GM going through bankruptcy even a lawsuit would be a loser.

I just don't see how this can be considered a safety issue. The vehicle can still be operated in a perfectly safe manner without any of these systems functioning.
It would be nice if someone could come up with a feasable repair. But in this case, i have to agree with Doug.
No stability system, no traction control, no ABMS??? How can it not be a safety issue? Don't know about your C5 but at 6 AM on a cold November morning when I grab second gear and am half asleep and pop out the clutch maybe a little quick I am glad TC took over a few times. Those guard rails come up quick.

Car came without these systems for 100 years. My 2008 Daily Driver does not have ABS.
