Default Installed my Kooks 1 7/8s!

Well thank you to everyone who has ever made a thread having issues with installing kooks!

I decdied to start tackeling it last night and ran into some issues.

Passenger side no problem (other then broke the ac line, but that was my fault as I didnt see the nipple was caught and forced it)

I jacked up the passenger side, pulled the valve cover and started, bam slide in!

Get to the drivers side...

Pull off the valve cover, alt out, jack the motor up, more the AIR line and Fuel line.
Then noticed #1 plug was close, pulled it.
Then noticed the steering shaft, moved it
Then the Temp sensor, took it out.
The the oil filter (this may not had to have came off)
Then I was stuck on the alternator bracket! And I have put a few of these on in the last year so was pissed. Took about 45min to get it off with those damn covered bolts!

I get it off and I am like YES VICTORY!

NOPE! Hits the engine cradle! So at this point I went inside.

Today I get home from work, moved the jack stands to the jack points (since I have it on the crossmember) and loosened the cradle bolts (4 21mm's) then drop the driver side lower shock bolts. (10min of work)

Try the header and shake the motor and BAM Drops in!

So now I get to re-assemble it then tig weld the broked ac line lol.

I should have waited since I am suppose to be getting heads from the fiance for xmas but last week she got all mad and told me to cancel the order. So its up in the air.

At least now I can finish my X pipe, gonna stop by my buddies tmrw to get some mandrel 3 inch bends and start welding away!

Thanks to everyone again for posting their issues, if it wasnt for this I woulda been pretty stuck.

So total time about 5 hours (by the time it goes back together)

Jay

If you want 1-7/8", go with the ARH American racing headers.
I've heard they go in pretty easy & pump out some power too.

I am presently installing KOOKS 1 7/8" headers in my CE 04Z06. After 4 hours I have both sides in. I didn't remove the valve covers, the alternator bracket, nor did I have to lower the cradle. This was easier than installing KOOKS headers in my 05 SSR. In any installation, patience is required and walking away for a while also helps.

Wow i dont know how you did it without removing any of that stuff! I also had no instructions. And my engine picker is at my buddies so used wood and a jack on the engine. Im sure if i lifted the front higher i may have got it.
