My father in law purchased a 2001 Coupe. The previous owner had installed a subwoofer, but the subwoofer was removed when he bought the car. Now, his stock Bose system has no bass at all. I can tell the difference because I have a 2000 FRC with the stock system and it sounds worlds better (believe it or not). So, what do we need to do to fix this?

The previous owner may have put low freq filters in line with the stock speakers. This keeps the LF out of them and lets the sub do all the LF.
Might have to pull the speakers out of the doors to check.
I had the same situation when I bought my C5. It was a couple of years old and the original owner traded in on a Zo6. He had a Subwoofer with a custom box and kept it to put in the new Z, I either had to rewire to get ride of the filters or replace the amp and subwoofer. I went with the subwoofer. It sounds good but I seldom have the radio on or a CD playing. I enjoy listening to the Corvette!
Done deal! Thanks for the help...the previous owner replaced all 4 speakers so we'll have to order new ones.
Glad you figured it out!
Myself, being a vacuum tube audio geek in my "other" life, thinks the Bose system is adequate at best. But, putting a killer sound system in the car wiould take away from money spent on making even sweeter music under the hood!
