Do they make anything that can be put on a windsheild to get rid of the sand blasting affect. The pitting from cars that through up sand and what ever. I'm talking about fine pitting, not rock chips. Do I need to go for a new one and if so does anyone have an idea of price? Yes I have hud. 2000 vert with 6m. thank you
They do, it's called a new windshield. Just kidding, but that may be true. I had an 01 I once owned buffed and it looked a little better, but when the sun hit it you could still see the pits, and now you could see the streaks from the buffing. Maybe someone else has had better luck and can suggest something to try. If I were buying a new windshield myself, I wouldn't pay the extra for a HUD windshield, you just can't tell that much difference between the two HUD displays.
My glass guy says he has installed the regular glass with a HUD and it still works. How well I can't tell you. But it would be OK with me given the price difference.
And no, I have never heard of a repair that works on what you have. The can inject a stone hit that has made a star crack but nothing for the sandblast effect.
MY 99 FRC has this same issue. Is this a common problem with hud windshields or any C5 windshield? My car spent time in Oklahoma and Michigan before I bought it with 49K on the clock. It can be annoying at times and I would like to replace the windshield at some point but there are other more pressing issues and wants that I will probably address first.
I know my issue is 170,000+ mile's. I would think this is common with the car so low and was thinking maybe some thing could be done. I guess a new windsheild is the answer. I will go without the hud window because of the extra buck's.
