I'm brand new here, so please forgive me if this has already been posted. I was having trouble getting the air filter clips to stay locked down on my 2001 C5. I read of several possible fixes for this, but none seemed to work for me. By sheer luck, though, I think I've found a very simple solution. It appears that the whole issue is the result of the bottom half simply sliding down slightly since the whole assembly is sort of loosely held in place. I hope this fix that worked for me is helpful to someone else out there.
STEPS
1. Make sure the air filter is properly seated and the cover fully down.
2. Put one hand on top of the cover, and slip one hand underneath the bottom part that holds the filter.
3. Pull the bottom part towards you while keeping pressure on the cover.
4. Latch the clips into place. (They should latch easily and securely)
