Can I replace the fog light bulbs with brighter bulbs and do you know the # of the bulb? My fog lights are useless from the factory. There isn't enough light from these fog lights to make it worth turning them on! :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
Question regarding the 885's: Do you need to change any wiring or fuses because of the higher wattage?
No wiring or fuse changes required, the system will take the additional load without a problem.
Make sure you aim your foglights (if you haven't already) to get the light in the right spot (instead of 5 feet in front of your car!!). :D

Torx T15 - it seems like all C5's have their fogs adjusted to shine 5 feet in front. If you haven't done this part, give it a try and you will see a difference. Before I adjusted, my DRL's provided more light than the fogs.
I went into Wal-Mart to find these bulbs and they list different bulbs for different years?! Is this correct or will the GE 855 fit in any Fog's from any C5?
The replacement is an 885 and it should fit all years and you should not need to change fuses.
As far as adjusting them, you need a torx T15 and if you look directly in at the fog light (with a flashlight) you should see the Torx adjustment bolt on one side. Park your vette in some public garage on the level and raise the lights (turn the torx clockwise I think) until the top cutoff is the same height as the top of the fog lights. Use a tape measure to size that up.
I've looked at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target and Pep Boys and NO ONE has this 885 blub. :mad This is a GE bulb, right? Why is it so hard to find, and is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a replacment/substitute with another manufacture...ie. Philips? Also, does anyone make this bulb in the Blue color lighting?
It is a GE Halogen 885 and I did buy mine at WalMart. Are there more than one close by that you could try.
I also wonder if the JC Whitney catalog might carry them. I threw my last one out so I can't check for you.
I thought the 50W were 886??? I also changed my fuse from 10 amp to
15amp
NOT a good idea to change the fuse to higher amperage. The fuse is what PROTECTS the circuit .... better to have a blown fuse than a fried circuit - or worse yet a fire :yesnod:
