Too make a long story short. A friggin mouse got in my engine compartment and ate some wiring on the right side fuel harness. Looks like most of the wiring is still in tact but some of the wires are stripped bare.
Looks that I cannot just replace that section of the harness, so I it looks like I have to cut and solder these pieces back together. A few questions about this?
What kind of wire should I use?
Is the harness one big thing i.e. entire electrical harness or is it sectioned off?
I really do not want to dismantle the entire car to fix this
Oh, and I know how to kill mice, so some technical advice about the car would be nice.
This has really pissed me off. The car is a 2004 with less than 20,000 on the clock and some rodent has f'ed it up. I'm going to kill everything that comes near my garage..
Thanks

Has anyone had to do this type of thing before?

Should I call my insurance company?

I hope that I'm clear on this, I just checked ebay and a few other posts and it looks like replacing this piece requires engine removal. I'm not down for this. Not a cheap part new or used...

Good lord....I'm not answering all those questions....
It's not that bad, and is completely repairable. You can obtain automotive grade wire(observing the correct gauge), at your local auto parts store. The schematics in the service manual will tell you exactly what gauge wire to use.
I've stripped all of the electrical tape wrap off of the wire loom and separated all of the wires and traced what colors go where. I'm just going to cut and splice one at a time back together. It would be nice if I could find a wrecked 04 and just clip out the chunk that I need. I'll look around in some local junk yards.
Does the service manual happen to say what gauge wire these are? The ones that go to the injectors. Looks like 16 or 18 gauge.
If you can send the schematics, that would be great.
It's amazing that some of these wires only have one or two strans of copper left and the car was running when I parked it.
