I know that a lot has been written about torque converters, but I think my questions are somewhat specific. What t/c will get "closest" to the following objectives for an h/c C5 with 3:15's and a4.
-would not be too loose for a daily driver
-would not roast the tires
-would pull strongly through each gear(no big dead spots)
It seems that the yank 3000 2.0 str would come closer than the vig 2800 2.5.
Any opinions other ideas etc. would help,I hope, relieve some of my confusion.
In my opinion, the YANK 3000 w/1.86str would be your best choice. It is about the most streetable converter that still puts killer power to the ground and helps keep your RPMs up in the range where a heads/cam motor makes power. I feel anything less than a 3000rpm stall on a converter is too little for a heads/cam car.
