I am a "new" owner of an '04 6 spd convertible purchased this past summer with just over 7000 miles on the clock. The only engine mods on her are a GLH catback exhaust for "improved" sound and a K&N air filter with a modifies stock airbox (opened up - from Corvette Central). I have been a Harley guy for many years using Power Commanders or Vance & Hines Fuel Paks piggybacked to the ECM to improve fuel management. With all that said, would a modification to the ECM on my Corvette be worthwhile? And, if so, is there a "piggyback" device to the ECM available for it that isn't just a "smoke and mirrors, make believe it improves the performance" while increasing the charges on the old credit card? Thanks in advance for your suggestions and comments.

The factory tune for these vehicles is relatively good. I've read on these forums of between 5-15 RWHP picked up on a stock car from a dyno/street tune by a professional. However, as you add modifications (Vararam or similar CAI, long tube headers, heads/cam, etc) the necessity of getting a tune to get all the HP out of it (and in some cases, just to have the car run properly) goes up.
To answer your actual question, you won't find very many people here who like the "Diablo" tuners or similar devices that may or may not improve HP and may or may not cause problems with your car. The right way to do it is to take your car to a professional tuner and have them make the modifications directly to your PCM.
Make a post in the regional section of the forum for your area and find out who is well regarded, and have fun!
If there is a piggyback to the ECM - it's a waste of money because the OEM ECM is so darn good.
With your current mods, an ECM tune is not worth it. If and when you do more mods..ie cam, long tube headers, heads, etc.....then an ECM tune is necessary.
