This has been an ongoing issue, but seems to go away for months and then come back. Well lately it has been happening everytime I drive the car. Codes I use to get was C1278, but I dont get that anymore. It use to go into limp mode about every 3 or 4 trips and I would get a bunch of traction control type codes. Well this new thing is puzzling me. It use to shut off in the past when it went into limp mode, but now it just shuts off with no codes. It cranks right back up and drives 10 miles or so and while on the highway it would just shut off again. This morning I heard a backfire cruising at 45 mph and the car shutoff, but no codes. It cranked right back up. It shut off 2 more times going 22 miles with no codes.
Now the only common code I have been having a problem with the last 2 months is C1233. I have changed both sensor cables and cleaned to no avail, but I cant even drive a mile or 2 w/out that code coming back.
I also use to get TPS Sensor codes. I cleaned the Throttle body and I have not seen that code in a couple of weeks.
Over the past year I have cleaned all the grounds. Replaced the batteries I plan on cleaning all the cables around the TAC Module in the wheel well because I do see some corrosion around them, but I have never got a code pointing toward the TAC Module.
When it "shuts down", do you get a total, temporary electrical failure or just a simple engine shutdown? Do you have HPtuners? With that, you can log many things to help determine what's going on here.
I've seen loose starter solenoid connections cause this. I've seen tight starter solenoid connections with (unknowingly) broken studs in the solenoid cause this too.
I've seen bad PCM grounding cause this. You would be driving and the gauges would go batsh!t and the car would die.
Actually Monday I did pull the starter down and redid the heat insulation on the wires and starter. I am pretty sure I made sure everything was snug when I put it back up there. I will check that again tomorrow because I am off. I am wondering if its my ignition because this morning I had my truck keys and remote and my Vette keys and remote all together this morning. I drove the car to the gym last night and did not have any issues.
As for electrical issue this is what I noticed just b4 it would happen.. My radar detector is set to show volts and all of a sudden it chirped and said low voltage and then went back up to 13.6 volts and then about 20 seconds later I heard a backfire while going 45 mph and the car shut off. Lights and everything was still on. She started right back up.

Post lightening up the key chain I drove the car for an hour and a half this evening and not one single issue. Tomorrow I am still going to go through all the fuse checks to make sure they are getting the right voltage.
I did not find any lines going down to it. All the vacuum lines are up near the battery. I found a screw at the end of one. I am wondering if the previous owner plugged it off. I have owned this car since 2003 and never noticed anything odd.
I have manual AC. The fan use to not blow so hard and I found where battery acid burned through. I fixed that, but I could tell someone had repaired the same thing in the past.

That mounts to the firewall, and has two connections:
1) Intake manifold vacuum(source)
2) A/C controls
Perhaps someone bypassed it. Inspect your vacuum lines. Do you have auto or manual A/C?

If your A/C functions normally, then the reservoir is obviously bypassed.
