I have been running the Bear Eradispeed rotors for over 2K miles with no probs. whatsoever. Just the other day, I started hearing this "noise" from the LR wheel area. I searched posts and deducted that it must be a bad wheel bearing as it would decrease or stop completely when turning left and increase when turning right as was the case with those who had bearings go bad. Even the C5 tech who I get to see "outside" his day job took a ride and agreed even though the car is an '02 with less than 3K miles on it and would be very rare. We put it on the lift at his "home" shop and tried to detect lateral play as the others with bearing probs. had done. There was none at all so we pulled the wheel and rotor off and found the retaining clip (spring) for the e-brake shoes had broken and was grinding the inside of the rotor. He had a shoe set on the shelf, robbed that little part out of it, reassembled and was on my way with the noise gone within 1 hour.
How much would you like to bet that if I took that into the dealership, they would have blamed the aftermarket rotor for the trouble and billed me for the repair?
Just wanted to post this as a heads up for anyone who hears a similar noise to know what it might be caused by.
