97 C5 almost stalls and idles rough etc...why?
My C5 almost stalls (Down to 300 RPM) when you turn the AC or heat on. Also, when I place it into gear it almost stalls. When I turn it on it idles extremely rough (+/- 200 RPM). Has this ever happened to anyone else. I took it to the dealership and they gave it a tune up and an oil change…any suggestions on what it could be??

I've had the same problem with mine since I married it. Other C5's I've been in have that rough idle too. Mine also turns off a little rough too.
Not too sure about the stallingthing though.

Thanks for the input. I should clarify myself though, it drops to 300 or RPM but has never stalled.
I feel a little better that someone else has experienced this even though the dealer said it was in tip-top shape. Thanks again.

Perform and Idle relearn.
Check for leak between the MAF and the intake.
Check for a vacuum leak.
Clean the throttle body and check for smooth operation.
The LS1 does not use an idle air motor, just the throttle-by-wire throttle plate.

I guess the LS1 uses an idle air contol motor...I'd have to check the manual to verify, but it surely must. I'm speaking from experience on an LT1 engine. It probably needs to be removed and cleaned...or possibly replaced.

I've had similiar symptons when the MAF was dirty preventing it from sensing the air flow properly. It always ran fine, but would nearly die when put in gear and getting of of the idle position. Try cleaning the MAF, (CAREFULLY), (VERY CAREFULLY)
