Default Both windows go down randomly on their own

This just started. All of a sudden one or the other or both windows go down on their own without touching the button. Has anyone ever seen this? What could be causing it? It is a 2002.

Has the car had window valet added? Has water gotten into the driver's side p/w control switch ***'y? Just trying to think what would affect both sides.

That's probably it!
Same thing happened to a friend. Switch was corroded.

Water in the driver's side switch sounds like a reasonable possibility to me as well and like already stated, I've never heard of this either. Even the serial interface buss cannot control the windows by itself which are relay controlled and the only common factor is the door switch. Let me add, I don't "think" the serial buss can do this...maybe someone like Lucky or Bill can update us on this

I did take the inner door panels off to get the mirrors off and then the window belt. I then washed the car with the switch hanging down into the door. I will dry it out and retry. I had to go to the hospital with my wife because we just had a baby boy. When I get home I will check during his nap. I think you are probably right that the switch got wet. However, when I disconnected the switch the windows would both go down.

That's a big change from "it just started all of a sudden".

Congratulations on the baby boy!

Both windows or just the passenger side? I remember reading an article about the C5 when it first came out. The tester kept lowering the passenger window without knowing it. I have also done it.
It happens when getting out of the car and holding the door. If your hand touches the window switch it brings the window down. I've caught myself doing it several times. I walk away from the car and look back and see the passenger window open. I close it and it stays closed. Just like the tester back in 1997.

Or the car could be haunted. I prefer not to believe this.
