The easiest, least expensive solution would be a tranny cooler. Summit has the best ones for the price. If you find an auto radiator on the cheap you could use it, but it is a fair amount of work to drain and change the radiator. I ran the stock radiator w/head-cam pkg. here in Az. in the summer heat with no problems, so you are good to go with which ever road you take. Bye the bye wifey and I are going to be in Reykjavik from the 19th of August thru the 26th next year. Are you close to this city?
You shouldn't need to replace your existing manual trans. radiator with an auto. trans. radiator.
Many A4 owners have even bypassed the original factory radiator trans. cooler, after installing a remotely mounted trans. cooler.
Just be sure to choose a mounting location that will allow good air flow through the cooler.
yea ok thanks, i was hoping i could scip the radiator
i need good cooling i have NA 500+ rwhp and nitrous 200-400shots setup and do a lot of drag racing in summer time....,
but would i need two transcoolers or is one big , good enough
i was considering getting a motor oil cooler too
the oil sometimes goes up to 245-255°F at the track

Your oil get's that hot in Iceland? i thought it was always below zero there?
I really like the B&M stacked plate racing coolers. They are set up so you can use AN hose and fittings.
Also, TCI makes some nifty coolers that include fans.
I am guessing you are running Teflon AN hose from the trans up to the front? Or did you get the stock lines?
These cars are neat because you can get the trans temp from the DIC.
My car is an A4 that I will be drag racing this summer, so I wish to add an aux cooler to mine as well.
Your deleted A/C condenser could be converted into a super-sized transmission cooler.
are you saying i could use my AC cooler as a oil cooler

Absolutely yes. Your old A/C condenser is the perfect solution, since you have already removed the A/C from your car.
Have some appropriate inlet and outlet fittings TIG welded to the existing aluminum tubing on the condenser, and then mount it back into the factory location.
I got a big cooler for a front mount, fabbed some brackets, and ran -6 braided lines. I added a 2nd cooler in the back with the thermostat electric fan. The trans temps stay below 175F with a 3600 stall. A friend uses a better quality (thicker) cooler in the front, and his temps are a bit lower.
