Automatics lose a little more power by the time it gets to the wheels. . My 01 6 speed dyno'd stock 305/322 for what it's worth.

Auto's do dyno lower. My '02 with 4800mi dyno'd at 315.1 hp and 331.9 tq. From what I hear auto are suppose to have 5% more parasitic loss than 6 speeds.

Put my 02 , A4 with 2,400 miles on the dyno last weekend. Got 290 HP and 311 TQ. See sig for mods. Just seems low to me. What do you think?

What are your air/fuel ratios? Those #'s seem low. Are those corected SAE #'s?
Just curious cuz a lot fo the F-bodies around here dyno between 290-310rwhp. I dyno'd mine with just a lid and free mods and got 319rwhp.
I wonder if it has anything to do with having those big 18's in the rear.

Re: 02 Dyno #'s (Red79EB02)
I don't think they seem to low. I just dynoed my 97 A4 (blackwing,TPIS,Stinger,LS1 EDIT tuning) on a "mustang dyno" and it only laid 302 HP and 329 ft TQ at the rears. It has a 2:73 rear in it :cry.

Re: 02 Dyno #'s (Red79EB02)
My brand new 2002 A4 (Vortex Rammer is my only Mod) dyno'ed at 300 RWHP/312 RWTQ. This is about what I was expecting, because you "lose" 15% from the flywheel to the rear wheels.
But, on all 3 runs, my print-out showed a 50-60 HP drop-off between 5,800 and 6,200 RPM's. My Chevy dealership checked with Detroit to see if there was a PCM update, but they didn't have anything.
I am going to digitize and post my dyno reports, but has anyone else seen anything like this?
Mike

For those of you who posted your Dyno #'s, what kind of dyno were you on? Dynojet or Mustang? i've been told that dynojet is going to give bigger Numbers......

Re: 02 Dyno #'s (Anth)
I could be very wrong, but I thought that dyno jet showed more HP because the mustang dyno replicated the actual "road load".

My understanding was the Mustang dyno gave higher #s than the Dynojet

Re: 02 Dyno #'s (Ryan2002C5)
From what I understand, it is generally accepted that there is approximately a 20% drivetrain loss for automatics and 15% loss for manuals, and a little less for a powertrain with a transverse layout (most FWD or mid-engine like MR2/NSX - no loss at differential). With a 20% loss, 290HP = 362HP.
And I have to agree, DynoJet is the standard.

Re: 02 Dyno #'s (benton0311)
Your numbers are realistic, I'm skeptical of many of the dyno numbers posted on this and other forums. My 01 Z06 with a Vortex and TPIS long tube headers dynoed at 337 SAE on one dyno and 345 on another a week later.
