I remember an article a while back that talked about a series of low cost mods that would enhance performance nicely. Can anyone point me to such an article? I'm not hard core into the mods, in fact I have an all stock system still, but some "low hanging fruit" would be nice to eat! ;)
Re: looking for article on low cost modifications (lairdwd)
I don't know of any articles, but you can find just about anything you're looking for here. For low-cost, I'd recommend some sort of bottom feeder ram air/air intake. I have a Vortex Rammer, but there are several others that can add 10-20hp by themselves. The only exhaust that I've heard of legitimately adding horsepower on a dyno are Borlas. I understand torque converters are a good mod for automatics.
Re: looking for article on low cost modifications (lairdwd)
I am just a novice in the Corvete field, but from what I can deduce from
various articles on the internetand by friends:
1. Replace the intake system. A new air filter is not enough. There are several
systems available. Contact the dealers and request info.
2. After Market MAF sensor or MAF Housings for the stock MAF. Better air flow to the intake.
3. If It's a C-5, Coolant Bypass Kit. This will help down the intake air at the
throttle body.
4. Thermostat minimum of 172-178 degree High Flow.
5. Replace the stock exhaust. Too much restriction. Once you get the air in,
you've got to remove it too.
