I have been ultra busy the past few weeks and have not had the time to devote to the car issue.
I get the car back from my body shop this morning from some cosmetic work, and he has also tack welded my bracket/frame for me so I can prep the car for transport. Car will ship to Florida on Monday for repairs.
Currently GM is still non-responsive.
What I am going to do.
Pay whatever expenses come my way in relation to the shipping and handling of the car.
get the car back from GM with repairs at their expense.
At the end of the day, total up all my expenses and hand them a bill.
Either they pay it, or I give them to someone who will make them pay it.
I'm just not going to sit here with my car off the road while we argue these points.

Re: ***Update*** Broken Suspension (BatMobile)
Sounds like a reasonable approach to me...good luck! How long will it take them to fix it? If it's fixed by CI 3 you might as well leave it in the US until then. That way you can have it at the CI, and ship it home afterwards.
I understand your frustration and anger with this, but can't this be fixed on the island by a mechanic/welder or is this something that has to be done by GM?
Good luck and I hope GM resolves this to your satisfaction.
If you are going to have your car repaired and then try to submit the bill to GM, I would write a letter which states your intent to do this. Now, where exactly the letter should go, I am not quite certain. I had a similar repair situation, and I submitted my letter to the dealer. At first, they had some legal aid contact me and try to scare me, but my ex wife was an attorney and she put them in there place and eventually I got paid. It is important to have some documentation of your intent, rather than just running off and doing work and then submitting the bill. Good luck!

No one wants to undergo the task of repairing it here.
When the bracket failed it cracked the chassis rail. about 1/3rd of the chassis needs to be cut out and replaced...hopefully the ENTIRE rail will be replaced!! This means separating the body from the chassis.
Not a task I even want to THINK about in any great detail!!

 Ahh, I didn't realize the severity of the damage. In that case, I think you're doing exactly what I would do and should be compensated for any and all out of pocket expenses you incur to resolve this.
It sounds like your attorney is going to have to be involved if GM is being that difficult with such a major failure. I hope it all works out for you.
My beef with them is that under the extraordinary circumstances of this bracket failure they are not willing to do anything outside of the 'book'.
Also, they are not willing to provide me with an alternate means of transportation...I am still tempted to work up a bill for that as well once they are in possession of my car and I am waiting on them for repairs.
I have my list of contacts, and have been asked to ship the car ASAP and provide all the expected arrival times...
Car SHOULD ship out tomorrow morning, be in Florida for Thursday morning, hopefully cleared through customs Thursday afternoon, and in Chevy's hands no later then Friday morning...
