I have an intermittent fuel pump problem and by intermittent I mean as much as several months between incidents. On the other hand it could happen tomorrow.
Here is the issue. I turn the key on and the fuel pump doesn't kick on. Everything else works fine. All the fuses and relays check out. I have noticed that it will usually happen if I start the car and drive a short distance and then try to start it again within 10-15 minutes. Also I notice that after about 30 minutes the problem seems to go away and the pump will come on no problem. Once the pump comes on it is fine the car has never died while driving. The pump is fairly new (5 months) The old pump was doing the same thing so I am sure it is not the pump.
Is it possible that this is somehow related to an issue with the security system?

No.
The good news is, if you have a 30 minute window of no fuel pump operation, you can find the problem!
Here's what I would do(reference link):
1) Fabricate a 12 gauge jumper wire, and have it ready(with you), so you can jump the relay socket at 30 & 87. With the key on, if the fuel pump runs with the jumper wire, you know all the wiring is good from the fuse box to the pump.
2) If the pump runs with the jumper, find out what is missing....12 volts or ground.

I had the excact same issue a while back. What codes are shown?
1016, 1064, 1096 are indicative of ground problems that will cause your problem if ground G105 located under the block on the driver's side is loose even a little bit. BC steered me there.
I didn't mention this in the OP but between the original issue (when this first occurred) and the current issue I had a new motor built and installed and the problem remains the same which tends to make me think the ground at the block is not the issue.
However...since anything is possible I will make a jumper and have it on hand. I will also check that ground wire.
While we are at it do you suppose I could have an issue on the underside of the fuse box?

Last first,,,not likely that there is a fuse box problem affecting only this and no other symptoms. I too used the jumper, my buddies showed me how, and I still keep it in the car. I would still remove, clean and reinstall the G105 ground using a lock washer and a tad of pressure. a tiny bit of blue Lock Tite wouldn't hurt. Since this was done, I have not had the problem come back.
