I was wondering how much rwhp you lose with a built tranny
and a Yank 2800. I am quessing 10 rwhp. What's your educated
guess.?
Thanks and Happy Holidays to All.
Usually figure a percentage-15% for stick and a little more for auto. When mine was dynoed I was told about 18% w/auto and 3500 Yank, so flywheel HP was about 700.
I didnt ask the question very well There is a difference in
stock verses aftermarket. My Yank will lose more hp than
stock. The same goes for the tranny. A aftermarket built tranny
will lose more hp than a stock one.
I still quess about 10 rwhp.
A stock Corvette already has enough power. If you are spending thousands to get a couple of tenths off your 1/4 mile times, it is a poor trade off.
If you want a thrill, spend the same money on a private pilot's certificate. Then you have REAL bragging rights!
Otherwise, it just another modded car with the associated poor drivability, poor reliability, and lowered value.
Counter point- A Honda Civic is fast enough. Spending thousands of dollars on a Corvette to gain a few seconds in the quarter mile over a Civic is a poor trade off. The Civic will get you home from the store fast enough.
If you want a real thrill, try Russian roulette. I hear it is way more exciting that getting a flying lesson.
Otherwise, a Corvette will depreciate much more than a Civic, and has worse drivability, less space for your pet brown bear, and only has 2 doors.
I assume you will have a pet brown bear, since you are into thrills. If you are a wuss, you could always settle for training rattlesnakes or hyenas.

I have had the thrill of looking over both shoulders and seeing no one in the cockpit, or the back of a PA140 while flying along, and many hours since.
Flying high is awesome, So is flying low. I discount neither!
I have driven 173 mph on the ground, 105 mph on the water, 645 knots on the DME in the cockpit of a Sabre 40 w/ Retro fit Dash 8's
Flying, fast is flying fast, no matter the "altitude"! I count myself as fortunate for the opportunties I had or made happen!
Sorry OP! No help from me on your question,,,MN6! MC&HNY!

To answer this question, what you lose in rwhp you gain in rwtq and it's all about the converter and has nothing to do with a built transmission.
BTW, not all converters are the efficency so pick one carefully for the best result.
