Getting ready to paint my calipers. Like every other car out there...I loosened the 2 slide bolts on caliper...they are loose...but will not slide out, now they won't tighten back up. Are these 2 bolts just slide bolts? Do I possibly have to remove the entire assembly from the hub? LOL...I make my living as a mechanic...but I dont want to beat on these pins to get them out.

Those are slide bolts that the outer bracket slides on to compress the pads. The bolts you want to loosen are bigger ones further to the outside. Use that t take the caliper off and after that you can tighten the slide bolts easily.
Re: Help...need quick advice on caliper removal (chi-ching-99vette)
If you haven't started yet, First compress the brake pads to push the calaper cylinders back into their bores. The take a 15 mm wrench and a put a 16 mm (or 5/8) wrench on the flat surfaces of the slide pin the losten the 15 mm bolts which hold the calaper onto the calaper bracket.
It is NOT necessary to remove the larger bolts, which hold the calaper bracket onto the spindle assembly, in order to remove the calapers. You'll have to remove the flexable brake line in order to take the calaper to a convient place to paint it. Make sure you plug the ends of the brake lines on the chassis to prevent the brake fluid from leaking out. Hope this helps.
Re: Help...need quick advice on caliper removal (PoBoy Racer)
I left them on the car and painted them...
That's the easiest thing to do....
I didn't leave them on. But if I did it over again I probably would. You can get the same results if you leave them on. Just have to mask off really well.
