Default wheel not locked, service colum lock msg

Hi all...
Was installing new headlights and the battery was a bit drained. Started the car (it struggled to start) and the wheel was locked. I managed to unlock it and drive home. Started it up a few times since and noticed wheel was not locked. Battery was very weak the 3rd time it was started (just now)... I am hoping the weak battery will charge up a bit.

I have had the car battery die twice on me before and had to get jump started (my fault) and I did not have a problem then with the Column lock.

Can I order a coulmn lock bypass or is this too late? I tried clearing the dic but must have done that wrong.

Any tips for me? Or do you think I will just have to drive with this error message on the dic?

Sorry for posting since there are so many on this topic but if I can still install a clb and fix this it would be nice... It perhaps its not needed? Thanks.

Ooops, sorry-- I have a manual transmission.

I do not hear anything lock or unlock when I remove the key or shut off the car.

no fuel cutoff at 2 mph either

I will have to go out there and check the battery then charge it overnight.

Thanks for the reply- I have no idea what a GM VIS is but i will google and find out

if you have continued trouble with the battery (especially since from what you've said it's been completely drained several times) I'd just buy a new battery. Only a matter of time after so many deep drains that it just won't hold a charge anymore

The car was completely stock and had very low miles when bought so I am doubtful that the fuel cut off was reprogrammed to a higher mph.

I remember the battery was drained twice and my car failed to start but was jump started by my mom's car... Then both of those times I took a ride which was an hour and 40 mins to my apartment.

I should get a new battery regardless since I have upgraded the audio systemast year... I have an AC seldom battery but not sure if its original. Car has 28800 miles on it currently.

Weather has been crappy... But today is nice I will try to see what else I can do. Guess I haven't been making my car a priority due to my parents are out of the country for a few more months and I have been using both of their cars... I also moved out of the apartment which I wrote was an hour and 40 mins away so I have not been doing much driving.... Gotta get the car up and running although snow is bound to come soon.
