Hello everyone-
I purchased Drewstein'd Vette and brought it back to San Diego two weeks ago. Now that the Xmas holidays are dying down I am starting to chase down squeaks and rattles. BTW- thanks to everyone who didn't buy the car, I am loving it! I have one particular squeak that I cannot seem to figure out. It seems to be coming somewhere from the driver's side rear hatch area, about head high. I have greased all the weatherstripping with dialectric grease and adjusted the removable top. Every time I go over a bump, the driver's side rear squeaks. Its absolutely driving me nuts. Any thoughts? Or anyone in SoCal thats good at chasing down squeaks and rattles? Thanks in advance guys.
Can you get someone to drive it over some bumps in front of you? Sometimes things can sound like they are coming from odd places when you're inside the cabin. As far as sounds coming from behind you, I think exhaust hanger springs are probably the most prevalent sound that people get from back there.
Do you get that particular squeak with the top removed? If not, you have identified the source. If the squeak is still there with the top removed, put the top back on and get someone to drive the car while you lay in the back listening.
I have same squeak. Very Loud just driving around with or without the top in place....I'll keep you posted if I can isolate it. I insolated my car so I am pretty sure the noise is not the sway bars outside but inside the car.
Sounds like it is coming from passenger side overhead area. I opened the hatch and tried to see if it may have been loose by trying to skake it but it is solidly in place. Opening an dclosing the hatch did not replicate the squeak.
So next is the girlfriend driving and me in the back with a tube in my ear hunting it down.
I'l keep you posted.
