Damn, I had my car at the dealer this week and when I got it back I had the column lock error on the DIC. I put in the bypass for that and on the way home I look down while idling at a light and my car was at 230 degrees. It quickly went back to the normal 198 after I started moving. When I got it home I let it idle for a bit. I saw it jump to 230 again, both electric fans were running and it brought it back down to 200 by itself. It has never done this before.

The water level is good and I can see water shooting into the recovery tank so the water pump seems to be doing it's job. What do you guys think? Could it be the thermostat sticking closed or failing?

I'm sorry guys, I broke the rule and didn't read first since I thought I knew this wasn't normal. I think the problem was that I didn't have my A/C on, it was disabled manually so the fans weren't running until it reached 226F. I think I usually have my controls set to Auto so I've never noticed it.

Sounds somewhat normal for the HVAC turned off and no airflow going through the radiator. You might want to wash out the condensor to get the tiny rocks out of it as this will help.
