Key FOB

"..When I programmed my fobs after a battery disconnect, it took longer than the 15 seconds to resister. As a matter of fact, they just wouldn't work with me in the driver's seat and the fob held at chest level. Knowing that my fobs have a very short range, so much so that they won't open the hatch when standing at the right rear fender, and that the receiver for the fob transmissions is located behind the drivers seat, I pushed the fob button while holding them at the rear of the drivers window. Now, that worked!..."
Do anyone else have any ideas?
Thanks..
My FOB is working. I just opened the door and stood behind the car with the FOB. 7 seconds. I saw it say LEARNED. The remote I used was a new one just bought. I failed miserably at learning it until I tried standing outside the car.
I will do the the original this week. I am kind of a tech. I tested the battery with my meter. Tested contacts. Soldered the defective spots. I didn't see no defects. I decided to just buy a new one and still was unable to program the FOB. This all started because of my disconnecting my car battery. I'm up and going now.
Thanks for the help.
