Default any body bought a Texas Speed & Performance motor b4??

i have looked a round (vengence, speed inc, ect) and nobody seems to offer a better bang for the buck on a forged 408 short block. And, for what i would pay to have my ls6 rebuilt with forged internals, would be the same as buying an all new iron 408. Any input would be very helpful.

Not sure if they are a sponsor or not so i will not post a link.

You can post a link to anything you want......doesn't matter if they are a forum vendor.

I have their aluminum 402 with their MS3 cam. I have put over 20k mi on it. It is tracked once a month during the summer and I dd it year around as long as it doesn't rain. No issues whatsoever. It has had good oil pressure from the first start, puts about 1 tblspoon of oil in catchcan per tracking session. Here is a quick vid of car ripping down backstretch at 150+:

My only regret is I didn't do the LS7 . HTH.

I have an LS2 402 short block as well. I haven't really done much with the car yet, but I didn't have any issues. Cleanliness and packing is very good.

For me it was much easier to have a short block shipped right to the front door than go out, pull an engine and rebuild it. The cheaper route would have been to settle for a 383 with my old motor, but the extra torque you get from the bigger engine is sweet! My only regret now is putting in 3.9 gears. I really fight for traction, 3.42 or 3.73 would have been a better choice. Hmm...maybe I can squeeze some 28 inch tires in the back.

I just recently did some business with them. Haven't got anything installed yet, that's coming up later this month. I will say that they treated me well and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I made a road trip to visit them in person and got the 50 cent tour from Jason of their shop/machining facility. Very impressive equipment these people have and most of it is new. They do everything engine-work-wise in-house nowadays (since June). As a matter of fact they just moved into their new 25,000 sq ft building in December. To sweeten the pot a little, you'll get an additional discount from TSP for paying cash (1.5% IIRC).

Dealt with Matt. Straight-shooter and very knowledgeable.

I bought their cam kit and love it. The guys over on the LS1Tech forum always have good things to say about TSP. Check out that web site, those guys are motor crazy.

I have a TSP 382 in my car. While I **REALLY** regret not going bigger, I have been happy with it and it has been reliable for me. I've got about 30K on it now, and its still going strong. Thinking of pulling it for something larger, and I will most likely look to TSP when the time comes.

So we are all on the same page, actually you can't IAW with the below rule:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/foru...l-posting.html

And the specific section:
Members are not prohibited from mentioning it when they have a good (or bad, for that matter) experience with a non-supporting vendor. But such mentions cannot be so specific (address, phone number, e-mail address, URL, price, part number, offer to send contact information via PMs, etc.)

Feel free to PM/E-mail me with questions.

Pit-Man has a forged 402 short block in his Silverado that he got from Texas Speed and it has been very good, reliable and makes good power. I'm sure he'll comment here soon.

I have been impressed with their recent changes and additions in machining and engine building facility. They use to sub their engines out to a 3rd party and that was why I always had my doubts. However, that is just a thing of the past and they seem to be on top of their game.

I was reaching out to them for my current build in progress, but couldn't get anyone to answer my questions. I don't regret going back to my original engine builder at this point, either.

Yeah Jim, my 402 short block has been a performer with Pete Incaudo's magic with the cam, porting and port matching. It is only Dyno'g 434\413 but is pushing a heavy Silverado down the track with 11.14 et. I bought a set of AFR 225's and a 92mm Fast and sent to Pete for porting and to design me a mild street cam that would still perform at the track. The wife wanted to be able to scoot around town in it if need be.

Here is a vid of how the motor runs. This in on little ET Streets and I simply roll out and hit the throttle. I took the front bumper off for this run but it didn't help. I backed it up with 11.18, bumper back on.

Anyone have updates on this? Who is running high mileage on these motors? I'm about to hit 100k and want to start road racing so a new engine would be ideal. Also, what are the drawbacks to using the 5.3L block?
