At what rwhp do you usually need upgraded injectors?
What are stock in a 2000 ls1 vette and what should I go up to and what brand?
Thanks
Depends on your duty cycle but most people buy injectors when they do heads/cam swap. You may be able to get away with it with a small cam only job. They would be maxed out.
Stock 2000 LS1 are rated at 24# at 3 bar. The LS1 actually runs at 4 bar (atmospheres - 4 x 14.7 psi) so you get 28#. They are made by bosch.
When I upgraded - I had to upsize my injectors (per the tuner). He also said - it's not a problem to overshoot the sizing by a bit. So if you only need 32, you can buy something like a 42 withouth a problem. Waaay oversized has some issues with pooling and spray pattern from what I've heard. I bought 36# injectors (image below) which would actually flow around 42 from what I was told. I'm at 412 rwhp.
I found a set rebuilt - which simply consists of taking it apart and cleaning the basket and shooting a little carb cleaner through them. They were flow tested to within 2%.
They're one of the most reliable parts of the car.
$400 for injectors? I know Ive seen GM ones for $199 but can't remember how many lbs they were or if they were even for LS1s, not sure if injectors are engine specific though?

Of course the price varies and there are many good choices as well as bad - look for SVO RED TOPs - seen them for 125-150 a set -

new injectors are expensive. Mostly because there's 8 of them. You're looking for the high impedance versions. That's why I bought used.
FWIW: My tuner turned me away from the ford SVO injectors. More likely than anything else - he didn't know how to tune them. So a consideration is what your tuner is familiar with - because he's the guy who has to make them work.
