My windshield developed a large crack in it I can't find good used OEM glass close by so I'm probably going to have to go aftermarket. Any experience with the Pilkington glass that seems to be pretty common for an replacements? I also know the OEM glass has one of the radio antennas in the front windshield.
I have a $500 glass break insurance coverage, so I could spring OEM but I'll have to pay $500
I don't have HUD nor do I have a Z06 so the "standard" glass would be fine for me. Any recommendations on what to look out for from those who have had their windshields replaced?
Also, anyone near Baltimore have a recommendation on a good shop who isn't gonna F-up my car?
TTT nobody has had their windshields replaced? lol.... I got a quote from one company who will put a LOF aftermarket in for $260, while Safelite is quoting over $600, they claim you need to replace the molding, which is $400 alone. Wonder if replacing the molding is necessary...
That's the thing I have, I've gotten quotes ranging from $260 to almost $700, some shops claiming the moulding has to be replaced (the more expensive ones). Wondering if this is really necessary... I have a $500 deductible, so I'd rather not pay $500 for a damn windshield
First of all, the difference in price for lower deductible is only a few bucks compared to paying the deductible difference when you need the coverage. For three vehicles it's like $46 a year to have $100 deductible for me. Might be good for you to change. Now as far as the molding, two guys came to my house and replaced a windshield in my Vette. They did not have to replace it and the job they did looks entirely original, like the windshield has never been replaced. 100 bucks for a factory original Z06 HUD windshield.

If I might ask... where did you obtain the factory original windshield?? (aftermarket w'shields are way too soft....)
