Default Tic or oem master for my application?

Ok guys,

Im trying to decide on a master cylinder... I need to replace mine and I've been told to get the tic adjustable for 300 bucks...

Some (like ranger) have said to just get any oem lne from a auto supply store and it will be fine...

Ive also heard the 04 z06 one is popular and works well...

Now i wanted to ask on personal expereiences woth oem replacements or the 04 z06 master cylinder. How have they been holding up?

The tranny place i called quoted me 100 bucks to just replace the master, which doesnt sound too bad...

Considering the prices oem replacement the z06 master and tic becomes importsnt for me.

Im a casual driver with bolt ons if that matters. I put just about 400 to the ground.

Any input is appreciated!

And i think the tranny shop will charge more if they gotta drill and all for the tic to fit. So i much prefer a direct reolacement

Whats the diff between 03 and 04 z06 master anyways?

Stock should be fine if you're not going to the strip.

Keep your fluid really clean and you should be fine at the strip.

If they bleed the clutch too, a 100 bucks is a steal.

If you are NOT experiencing any bleed off in the master cylinder, a new stock one should be fine. Well, a new one should be fine anyways. I happened to swap out from stock because I was having high RPM shift issues from 2nd to 3rd gear. Only when the RPMs came down, to say, 5000 rpms, did it shift as expected. But up around 6500, it was tough. The TICK Adjustable fixed that.

But if you are not gear jamming, a stock one should work well.

I'm running a Tick master cylinder because it's adjustable. It seems a lot of after market clutches change the pedal engagement position. In my case I switched over to a Centerforce dual friction and it was engaging way out (almost at the top of pedal travel). That was extremely annoying to live with.

From what I understand, the master and slave were both updated in '04 to help alleviate the sticking pedal problem. All new masters and slaves now sold are the newest versions since they are interchangeable replacements. I would suggest buying from a vendor such as GMpartshouse or East Coast Performance because their prices for factory GM parts are substantially cheaper than a dealer for the same parts. I paid $100 each for the master and slave from ECPerformance. They are both vendors here on the forum.
