C6 shifter mod...my experience.
Just a little FYI for those of you that are still rowing a stock C5 shifter. If you are looking for a budget shifter, and you have been on the fence about it, by all means, get a C6 shifter and ****!!!!! I spent awhile looking at shifters, reading up, and talking about shifters with people. While I didn't have the luxury of TESTING any prior to my purchase, I have had aftermarket shifters in the past so I am familiar with the 'notchiness' some complain of. Honestly, my wallet was the deciding factor for me, b/c I REALLY WANTED an MGW with a C6 ****. I spent HALF that on a C6 package and the shifting improvement is absolutely remarkable. I cant honestly tell you how much of that is due to the shift **** vs. the shifter ASSEMBLY, but nonetheless, I couldn't be happier with my choice. Shifts like a sports car instead of a semi, as before. I am very happy with it, and would recommend this as an IMMEDIATE modification for any fellow enthusiast that is budget minded.

I too, would be interested in a source for the parts, as well as the procedure to replace it. My car is currently kept bone stock, but I'd consider bolt-on mods that can be reversed later if desired.

I went with the C6 shifter. I posted in the parts forum I wanted to buy one. Within an hour or so I had a couple of offers. I bought a shifter with the **** that came out of a car with 50 miles on it. Total cost shipping and all $85.
