I thought I was set on gettting Melrose headers, but now I see that some people have had some rust issues with them. Should I get stainless steel coated headers- looking at LG street series, kooks and SLP. Any suggestions are appreciated. And of these three which would make the biggest gains in HP/low end torque, or are they all about the same?
I have the XSPower headers, high flow cats and catback on mine. Installed myself and it was an excellent fit and finish is polished 421SS. Outstanding construction on the flanges and the sound is awesome. For the price, I was able to get everything from the heads to the tips for the price of some of the more expensive name brand headers. Yes, I know, you get what you pay for. And in this case, I got a lot for what I paid. Do yourself a favor and check them out before you make a choice.
Good luck!

Just finished installing LG Super Pro's on my 2000 FRC. Very nice product, install was remarkably easy for long tube headers. Fit and finish was 10/10. Sound is incredible with my modded Ti exhaust.

IN MY OPINION : I spent a lot of time checking on headers. Most are pretty close on HP output on the same engine. Each engine build needs different styles, length, diameter, to max out on torque/hp. Are you looking for easy install, sound, quality, no rust, shine, less heat? The people that seemed to make the most sense to me,(2-5 hp didn't matter to me), rated Quality bends, welds, and fit as the most important to a non all out racer. Something made a lot of sense to me when I was told by a couple different shops and or header companies, was #1 by shops, was I get the best price from my supplier for that brand! #1 by companies, was I don't need to spray heat coating on my headers to cover up poor quality work! I want people to be proud to own my product!
After all the looking I went with 1 7/8" which took a little longer to install but will be the best size in the long term. Quality welds that I don't have to reweld down the road. I am not a track or drag racer. I am very happy with my ARH headers and catted Y pipe that I did heat coat to reduce underhood temp., in front of Corsa Pace Car Tigershark tipped cat back system. And the pre muffler elec. oval dumps kick a$$ and added 8 rwhp when open also.
I've been doing ALOT of research on headers also.I think everyone is right when they say stick to the top 3 makers.trust me,the more you search the more confused you might get!!My decision now is coated or not!!! Good luck

With a non tracked car the ARH are fine without coating.
That being said my car is used mainly on road courses and my ARH are coated and I have measured a nice decrease in temp when comparing my car with one uncoated, but again this is track use.
