Can anyone give me any advise on adjusting my hood. I've replaced the hood brackets, but I'm having a terrible time getting the hood to fit square. I've tried other suggestion I read during a search, but was wondering if there are specific steps on doing it.
First step is to make certain the frame is square. Then fitting the inner fenders. The opening formed by the fenders and bumper has to be square or the hood will never fit right. I would start by doing some measuring. Diagonals should be the same side to side. You really need a tram gauge to do it since there are too many obstacles for a tape measure.
The hood is adjusted side to side and front to back with the four nuts that bolt the hinges to the frame. The two rearward bolts into the hood allow for some up and down adjustment. Moving one side front or rear will effect the consistancy of the gap between fender and hood as well as the hood to bumper. This is the most challenging car I ever worked on for getting panel alignment.
Thank you fendermender. Adjusting the hood using your tips worked great, also the inner fender is coming along. Just waiting for a few good warm weather days to tack it on.
I don't have heating equipment other than the sun.
