Default oil filters

In the February 2012 issue of FOUR WHEELER magazine they have the best article about oil filters that I have ever read. They take 16 filters that fit the same engine and took them apart for analysis for the following: height, canister outside diameter, filter media type, height of the filter media, filter media square inches, center core material, end caps material, anti-drainback valve material, pressure relief valve material if filter has one.
Along with a chart of the above items, they have descriptions of each of the filter parts. The magazine allows you to draw your own conclusions about which is the best filter for your car. Log on to fourwheeler.com for detailed photos.

The chart is too small to read.

My kids were able to increase the size of the chart. Of course, they accuse me of being a Luddite who writes on clay tablets and uses an abacus. Probably some truth to that.

Another worthless article on oil filters and what they look like once taken apart. What does it prove really?

Yes, yes, and the Fram oil filters with the cardboard end caps are evil. I've heard it all. For once, I would like to see actual facts and proof of all those engine failures out there caused by badly designed oil filters.

What really amazes me is that every time I go to a car show and a Ferrari owner opens his hood, the engine always has Fram oil filters. Hmmm, they must be pretty dumb Ferrari owners who do not know the first thing about caring for their million dollar investment. That has to be it........................not!!

either that or they are too stupid to know how to take care of the car themselves so they just trust their mechanic to take care of it.

Yah right. I'm sure that the average Ferrari owner has their car serviced by Bubba's corner garage. Really??
