I am not a DIY guy when it comes to engines. I just had my mechanic install a Katech belt tensioner to replace the original (at 100K miles), which had developed the famous "cold morning chirping" problem.
This aftermarket tensioner is not auto-adjusting. You position it to achieve the recommended pounds of tension on the belt.
My question is whether the tension adjustment is something that needs to be checked regularly, at a certain number of miles interval, or left alone until/unless you start hearing belt slippage?
