Recently my 2000 C5 started making a weird clicking noise and it's driving me mad trying to figure it out. The car only comes out of the garage occasionally (32K) and the noise seems to last for only a couple of miles when the engine is cold, then it disappears. Once the car has warmed up; I do not hear the noise. At first I thought it was a sound like there was a rock in the tire tread clicking as I drove down the road but that is not it of course. It sounds rotational and it seems to be on the drivers side somewhere. I only hear it when in motion...zero noise at an idle. I do not believe it is an engine noise....any ideas out there?
Mine makes a clicking noise when i first reverse out the garage in the am, between that and forward when you first take off and the car is cold. I believe my cv axel or something is going.
Mine does a similar sound when I first fire it up cold. By the end of the block it goes away. Mine is piston slap, many vettes have it. It does no harm and I use no oil. Just take care for the first mile or so. Hope thats all you have. Rod
