since your talking about running in the NASA HPDE 2 group you must have been through group 1 and you should know how the track is in HPDE 1, lots of traffic , slow drivers and limited allowed passing areas so you dont get a real chance of high speed I dont know where you are located but the tracks in California and the weight of the vett. you should be fine with Hawk hps plus. One item that you may need to look at is your brake fluid after a lot of hard braking you may experience some brake fade (soft pedal or need to push harder to stop) this is caused by overheated brake fluid I think standard DOT3 fluid has a wet boiling point of around 280 degrees you could change your fluid to a DOT4 that has a higher wet boiling point of around 320 degrees that little difference does make a lot of difference with brake fade one brand that I have used is ATF super blue it's about $16.00 a quart a little money for a lot more safety is a good thing. a power bleeder works great to purge your system of the old DOT3 good luck

Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear. We sell this to almost all of are Corvettes customers doing HPDE on street tires. I will be happy to help you with questions just let me know.

When Carbotech™ unleashed the XP10™ to the general public it was an instant success. XP10™ immediately gathered multiple regional, divisional, and national championships. The XP10™ has a very strong initial bite friction material with a coefficient of friction and rotor friendliness unmatched in the industry. Fade resistance is in excess of 1650°F (898°C). Due to the high level of friction and bite, this material is recommended for cars weighing around 2,900lbs or less. XP10™ still maintains the highly praised release, excellent modulation and rotor friendliness that have made all Carbotech™ compounds so successful. Carbotech™ XP10™ is not recommended as a daily-driven street pad due to possible elevated levels of dust and noise.

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1350°F+ (93°C to 732°C+). Carbotech™ XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. Good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Excellent as a front brake pad for lighter applications weighing around 2,400lbs or less. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Carbotech™ does NOT recommended XP8™ as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. Carbotech™ XP8™ is a great compound on the front & rear of most open wheel and sports racers.

I see the carbotech guy has responded as well. I have used the xp10 and xp8 pads on the track and they are great pads they have great bite when needed allowing for late braking my car is fairly light 2250 lbs the pads wore very well even under very hard driving I would rate them as a A+ on the track but a little aggressive on the street. It seems that most "racing" pads throw a lot of dust. you will want to wash your wheels When you get home you don't want that dust to sit on the wheels for any extended time

Thank you for your post. I would just like to add that Carbotech brake pads will not harm your wheels or paint on the car.

Carbotech brake pads are extremely rotor friendly and contain 100% non-corrosive brake dust, that’s something that has been unmatched by any other brake pad in the industry.
