I am installing C6 Z06 shocks on my 01' Z06 and the top mounting plate on the 06 is different than the 01 top plate. The plate is where the top shock bolts to the plate that then attaches to the frame with 2 bolts.
The top plate on the 06 shocks is formed at an angle so it is higher on 1 edge by a little over a 1/8' and the 01 plates do not have this difference.
I will just reuse the 01 plates. It's funny that I have not seen this mentioned in other shock posts. Anyone else see this difference?

Reason: add pic
I did not notice the difference when I did mine but what I did notice was the angle seemed different when I tried to put the bolts in to mount them to the frame at the top. They did draw up tight so I didn't pay any attention to it but now that you show the pic I am wondering if that angle may lead to stress on the shock shaft. I think you did the right thing by taking the old mounts off and using them. If it weren't such a PITA *** removing them with Zip ties or wire I would take mine off and do what you did.
