Default New radiator

My radiator has a small crack on the top passenger side and is leaking! Aftermarket or stock is the question here, also, how difficult of a job will this be? Who do you recommend buying from? Its a bone stock 1998 C5.Thanks

If you plan to keep the car, I would recommend going with a new stock GM replacement radiator.

If you are replacing the original on your 1998 , the performance is proven.

Thanks guys, this gm radiator has lasted 14 years. Guess I will stick to the oem part.... I just had the front main seal replaced, wonder if the radiator is just coincidence? Is it possible that they cracked my radiator? Did they have to remove it? Anywho, thanks guys

It's an easy job.

Get a used one from the for sale section here.

While technically I suppose you could replace the front seal without removing the radiator, it is highly likely that it was removed for that repair.

I would never buy a used radiator. The water passages on the lower part of the rad get filled with crud, I always buy new rad. Nothing wrong with the stock part.

I bought a new radiator and replaced it myself. Very easy job using the drive up rhino ramps. I spent more time cleaning everything under there than I did removing and replacing the radiator. I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination either. Labor cost would have been $250 and the dealership and $150 at the local shop. Thanks for the advice!
