Soon it'll be time for a new clutch, as the need for more speed is coming so I know my stock c5z clutch will no longer hold and as it is already engaging very high and gets soft after hard shifts.
I've been doing my research around the forum and I diffinetly want a stock feel clutch as I daily drive the car so I've narrowed it down to the ls7 kit or Mantic ER2. Power wise right now Im just bolt on's & probably will be doing a cam then mayber later down the road a blower. Im very unsure yet but I wanna have something that'll be able hold the power, Mantic is good for 700hp forsure and the ls7 there's stories of up to 650, I think its just all up to the type of style. My style mostly street and occaionally drag strip.
So question is which would be the best, Ive read ls7 fly wheel a bit heavy and might loose some power so would it be that worth it to spend more for the Mantic.
-EastCoast Performance had a pretty good deal on their ls7 clutch kits
with:
Clutch Disk, Flywheel, Pressure plate (Alignment tool included) and with the additonal accesories of Slave, Master, Pilot & Throw out bearing I added it up for about $680
-ECS advertises their Mantic ER2 Clutch with:
Clutch, Flywheel (Alignment tool included) and a throw out bearing for $749.
Being my car's got about 60k miles on it Im guessing I'll be needing those extra accessories ie. slave, master, pilot.
they make 2 levels of the ls9 kits. not sure on the rating on them but i think they are around 750 and 950. supposed to have a stock like feel. my boss said thats what he is going with in his cammed c6z, and its a 550hp garage queen lol
i for one bought a monster stg4, i hear ill get a work out with it but after researching everything it fits my needs perfectly.. and i just happen to like a stiffer clutch pedal lol
either way good luck woth your decision....
and just for reference his c6z with a cammed 550 toasted on his first launch at the track with around 40K-ish miles on it. just something to think about when you say you are thinking a cam and maybe blower in the future
I purchased the Mantic Single last summer. I needed a clutch because I had a bad experience with the LS7 kit. All I can say is what an outstanding product!
Chris and Doug said the pedal feel is stock, there is no chatter, and the engagement is butter smooth yet it can hold 700+ rwhp. At first I was reluctant to put it in because of my past experience with aftermarket clutches. Theres always a compromise. But no compromise with the Mantic... As soon as I got in the car and pushed the clutch pedal to start it, it felt so light that I thought I have a hydraulic issue. I was expecting a leg workout.
Let me tell you that Chris and Doug were dead on with how they described this clutch to be! It is butter smooth, the pedal feels even lighter than my stock OEM clutch, zero chatter, no noise in neutral, zero vibrations! Engagement is exactly how oem clutches are. Upshifts and downshifts are very smooth. No "on/off" switch. I can actually drive the vette without having to deal with annoying chatter that used to shake the whole car when leaving on 1st gear. (previous clutch was SPEC 3+)
My car is enjoyable again. To also add, I noticed the motor spins much easier now when accelerating. The Mantic twin kit was weighed at 39lbs so im guessing the ER2 single is probably around 37lbs. Definitely worth the few hundred dollars extra!

Thanks for any feed back.
LS clutch will not handle repeated hard launches. I am pleased with mine at 423 RWHP / 409 RWTQ. Price and preference is all up to you.
Just a review on this clutch...so far its been a great clutch! Its a little bit stiffer then the stock clutch but not by much, all my friends w/ after market clutches are impress how much stock feel this one feels compared to theirs.
