Default Traction Control Question

What would make the traction Contol come on when I am in 6th gear on dry pavement when I accelerate? Is this normal? It also does it when the cruise control is on and it needs to accelerate or if I put the pedal down to speed up. It will not take off and go unless I turn it off!!!! Very unsafe and annoying.

How are your tires?

Do you get any codes?

Pull your codes and post them:

Include the H or C or HC that follows the 5 position code.

Tires Front 245/45/17 and Rear 245/40/18 ZP

There Michelin Pilots A/S Plus 90% Tread (Rears are zero pressure). I am not sure why previous owner went smaller on the rear but at $300.00 a pc. I am going to run them!! LOL

There is your problem. The tires are the same diameter. On a C5 for the traction control to work properly the rear needs to be at least a half inch larger than the fronts. Factory is closer to one inch.

If you want to run the rears you currently have and avoid the symptoms you are experiencing, you will need to put the car into "Competitive Driving" mode each time you start the car. This avoids the symptoms you are experiencing but means you are on your own if you get into a handling situation where the AH/TC combination is better prepared to control the car than the driver is. GM recommends only using Competitive Driving mode in a competition situation.
Thanks for the information. Currently just turning off with button on interstate. I am listing rears for sale and replacing.
