Re: How much does it cost to replace a C5 clutch? (AFVETTE)
Local Chevy dealer gave me a ball park figure of $450 to $550. Plus parts and any fluids required. All told very close to $1000 would be my guess.
If you plan on driving your car as it was made to, then I strongly suggest you to replace it with an aftermarket clutch when the stock one goes out. My stock clutch went out after about 20K miles or so because I was beatting on it at every chance I get. But hey, that's why I bought a Corvette and not a Corolla.
A decent aftermarket clutch will run you close to $1000, so you're looking at $1500 total after the install. Or you can go the cheap route and get the 02 Z06 clutch for around $400. It all depends on how you drive your car.
So far, I have about 7K miles (plus ~10 bottles :D) on my Cartek clutch. Let's see how long this will last :D

400-450,If you drive in a spirited manner as most of us do I would at least go for the Z06 model for another 1-200 I would invest in a Star unit LPE uses
them alot and they come in 4 flavors Star 1-2-3-4- the 4 being for up to about 850+ rrwhp if your looking at minimum mods a 1 or2 will do you.
I always go 1 step higher than I need I would need a 4 but John L.(LPE)
installed a $3,000 Test unit hand made mostly of Z06 and his engineers pieces to turn it into the "ultimate Strip unit)single disc which is all I like If your stock or have a head /cam/headers/exhuast.A Star 2 is fine for low $$$$$'s if your dreaming of a Blower a Stage 3 is perfect we carry many brands but the Star Is our favoritefor holding power, longevity, low price etc...
If we can be of help our prices are super competitive because we sell a bunch each moth and when we sell em we charge 400 in other word for this month you save 50 Bucks on install and who ever installs it if they have no experience they may still give you 50.00 off goes in easier than stock.
