Re: For Those Who Removed MAF Screen...Need Help! (CCrane00)
If you are talking about what I think you are, there is a gray "key" on top before you can disconnect (squeeze together if I remember right) then you can remove it. If I am not thinking about what you are...this will get you to the top. :chevy :seeya
Re: For Those Who Removed MAF Screen...Need Help! (CCrane00)
Why do you want to remove the clamp? Are you just looking for a way to remove the screen? I would suggest removing the entire air cleaner assembly, including the snorkel. This will be easiest for you to work on and you'll be able to make sure you don't get any debris downstream of the MAF after removing the screen - you definitely don't want your engine to suck in any slivers of metal.
To remove the whole assemble, just loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body, disconnect the MAF wiring, disconnect the PCV hose from the air box, pop the snorkel off the two posts, then pop the air box off it's two posts.

Carefully...very carefully! As said already be sure there are no small metalic remnants of the screen anywhere when your done! I used a razor and cut the perimeter of the screen. It's about 1/4 inch thick so be sure to go all the way through and then pop it out with a small screwdriver. Blow out all the shavings and put it back together. Use a little vaseline to slide it back in place and DON"T TOUCH THE SENSORS INSIDE!!
Re: For Those Who Removed MAF Screen...Need Help! (vstella)
I stuck a screwdriver through mine, making sure to NOT TOUCH the sensors, then just pried the whole screen out. No shavings.
This also leaned my car A/F mixture out. Don't really notice it until over 5k rpm then I have a very small ping before the knock sensor retards. I will have this tuned soon.
