Default Help with Power Steering Rack Removal

Hi All,

I'm replacing the oil pump. I'm to the part where I have to remove the steering rack. Everything from it is disconnected. On the drivers side the rack fits fairly loosely in the crossmember bracket. The Passenger side, OMG! I finally wedged the rack up as high as I could but it is still about 3/4 of an inch from clearing the bracket. How do I get this out of the brackets to remove it from the car? The rubber boots on the end are hitting the frame at the wheel wells.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You think it would help if you were to loosen the front cradle bolts/nuts, till you have about two or so threads left?

Glad you were able to figure it out.
What are you removing the rack for?

I found my answer, thank you for responding. I've never done anything with steering before, I didn't realize I could push the tie rods in and collapse the rubber boot. Once I did that. I had the clearance to move the rack.
