I have a 2003 C5 and lately the trans is shifting strange. When I come to a stop and then get right back in the gas, the car seems like it is in a higher gear, falls on it's face and then downshifts and goes.
When I'm doing about 50 and jump into it, the RPM's jump way up but the car hesitates feels like it drops down to lower gear but doesn't, then downshifts and goes. Any ideas, no codes have been thrown. The car has an extended warranty but the dealership seems to think everything is fine.
Check fluid level -- then see if the oil is burnt( brown looking) also see if there is any metal or an extreme amount of clutch material in the pan--Some clutch material is normal--
No metal should be in there--
How cold is it where you live ??
If it is very cold and the oil is OLD and dirty it could cause the trans to shift weird
ALSO even if te check engine light is NOT on--you can have old history codes or pending codes in your ECM --Go to any Autozone and they can read the ECM with a scanner for FREE to check for DTC's
Bad news as mentioned--is that many times this is the 1st sign the tranny is going bad---
